Toledo born, Toledo proven
It all started back in 2014: one box truck, a stair-climbing dolly, and Ray Kaminski’s conviction that a price ought to be a promise. Ray grew up in the Polish Village down in the Old South End, and well before he opened his own shop he spent years routing freight over by the Jeep Assembly plant. “Time and again I saw people in my own neighborhood get burned by a cheap estimate over the phone that doubled the second the load was on board,” he says. “I built this place around the opposite idea: a top-shelf move for Toledo families and zero panic on the day itself.”
That conviction still runs the shop. We are a working moving company with trucks and gear of our own, not a referral middleman and not some app that pairs you with whichever stranger bids cheapest. The payroll lists fifteen names, ten of them full-time movers who train as a unit, pull on the same shirts, and drive vehicles we own and service. Nobody subcontracts your belongings to a face you have never laid eyes on. The crew at your door on move day is on our books and under our insurance, answering to the bar we set.
We keep the steps few and the logic plain. Tell us where you are leaving, where you are landing, and what is coming along. Back comes one flat written rate that holds steady. We show up on schedule, wrap every piece in pads and stretch film, work it through the stairwells and the narrow Old West End jambs, and we do not invent fresh charges at the tailgate. Moves that stay inside Ohio run under our household-goods authority from the PUCO; anything crossing a state line travels on our federal USDOT and MC numbers.
Working close to home is the point, not a limitation. Toledo is ours, from the riverfront lofts hugging the Maumee to the brick ranches of West Toledo and the farmhouses dotted out across Lucas County. We have muscled loads through the lake-effect dumps, around the salt crust on I-75, and out of the tight angles near Monroe Street. That kind of local muscle memory is exactly what flips a brutal day into a smooth one.
How we got here
- 2014 — Ray launches Elite Easy Movers with a lone truck and a flat-rate handshake.
- 2016 — A second truck rolls in and the full-time roster pushes past five.
- 2018 — The downtown office at 1900 Monroe Street opens.
- 2021 — Interstate authority arrives for hauls to Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, and Chicago.
- 2024 — Staff reaches fifteen, ten of them full-time on the trucks, all of it standing behind a $1,000,000 cargo policy.
